The short version. The puzzles need nothing from you. There is no account, no sign-up and no newsletter. We do not set cookies, run advertising, or load anyone else’s analytics or tracking scripts. We keep a few anonymous counts of how the site is used, described below, and nothing that identifies you. We do not sell or share anything, because we do not collect anything to sell.
The Daily Clue runs entirely in your browser. The day’s grid is worked out from the date, so everyone gets the same puzzle without us needing to know who you are. Your progress through a puzzle stays in the browser tab and is gone when you close it.
We keep a plain daily tally of a few things: how many times a puzzle or a printable page was opened, started and finished, how many times a printable file was opened, and whether a visit arrived from one of our own pins. Each is only a number for the day. No cookie is set, and no IP address, device or visitor identifier is stored with it, so the counts cannot be tied to a person or linked from one visit to the next.
The site is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, their servers keep standard request logs, which can include an IP address and browser type. We do not use those logs to identify anyone. See Netlify’s privacy policy.
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google to fetch them. See Google’s privacy policy.
Some pages link to our Etsy shop or to Pinterest. Once you follow a link you are on their site under their rules, not ours.
We publish our own images to our own Pinterest boards automatically: the day’s puzzle, and pictures of our free printables. It posts only artwork we made ourselves, to boards we own. It does not read, collect or publish anything belonging to Pinterest users.
The puzzles are suitable for all ages, and nothing that identifies a person is collected from anyone, including children.
If this ever changes, the date at the top changes with it.
